Giovanni Malagò è Presidente del CONI dal 2013 oltre che essere membro del Comitato Olimpico Internazionale dal 2019, membro della Commissione programma olimpico e della Commissione di coordinamento Los Angeles 2028, è anche Presidente della Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, il Comitato Organizzatore dei Giochi Olimpici e Paralimpici Invernali 2026. Inoltre, presso il Gruppo Sa.Mo.Car è Consigliere Delegato, socio e Presidente del CdA da marzo 2023, mentre presso Samofin è Presidente, Amministratore Delegato e socio. Attualmente è anche membro di diversi Advisory Board, Advisory Council, CdA e Consigli Direttivi di alcune fondazioni, università, società e enti pubblici e internazionali. In passato ha presieduto i Comitati Organizzatori degli Internazionali d’Italia (1998-99), dei Campionati Europei di Pallavolo maschile e dei Mondiali di Nuoto di Roma. Nel 2002 è stato insignito con la Stella D’Oro al Merito Sportivo e nel 2021 dell’onorificenza di Cavaliere di Gran Croce. Negli anni è stato anche membro della Giunta Nazionale del CONI. È stato giocatore di calcio a 5, vincendo 3 campionati italiani e 4 Coppe Italia. Ha partecipato con la Nazionale Italiana al Mondiale in Brasile nel 1986.

Giovanni Malagò has been President of CONI since 2013 in addition to being a member of the International Olympic Committee since 2019, a member of the Olympic Program Commission and the Los Angeles 2028 Coordination Commission, he is also President of the Milan Cortina 2026 Foundation, the Organizing Committee for the 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. In addition, at the Sa.Mo.Car Group, he has been Managing Director, Partner and Chairman of the Board since March 2023, while at Samofin he is Chairman, Managing Director and Partner. He is also currently a member of several Advisory Boards, Advisory Councils, Boards of Directors and Boards of Directors of a number of foundations, universities, corporations, and public and international bodies. In the past, he chaired the Organizing Committees of the Internazionali d’Italia (1998-99), the European Men’s Volleyball Championships and the World Swimming Championships in Rome. In 2002 he was awarded the Stella D’Oro al Merito Sportivo and in 2021 the honor of Cavaliere di Gran Croce. Over the years he has also been a member of the CONI National Council. He was a 5-a-side soccer player, winning 3 Italian championships and 4 Italian Cups. He participated with the Italian national team in the World Cup in Brazil in 1986.
