Head of Strategic Innovation and R&D - Pirelli Tyre
Since 1997 Marco Spinetto has a wide-ranging role that overseen the strategic innovation and R & D functions of Pirelli Tyre.
He is responsible for the Technology Roadmapping process, Project Management Committees for technological development and coordination of Open Innovation projects, including the Joint-Labs – the technical-scientific collaboration between Pirelli and the Milan Polytechnic University. He also oversees the ICT Project Portfolio for R&D.
Member of the Board of Directors of CORIMAV, an Advanced Materials Research Consortium formed by Pirelli and the University of Milan Bicocca, which since 2008 has been a PhD School in Materials’ Science and Nanotechnology. He is also Chairman of CERISIE, the Italian Rubber Laboratory (Laboratory for Certification and Research in Elastomeric Systems).
He also manages the Product Academy, an R&D training platform for products, technologies, skills and innovation management tools, and the R&D Knowledge Management Intranet Portal.
He is also responsible for the Government Regulations & Industry Standards and Global Certification of Products and Materials. In this field he is the chairman of the governing board of The European Tyre and Rim Technical Organisation (ETRTO) and member of the steering committee of the European Tyre & Rubber manufacturers’ Association (ETRMA) in Brussels, as well as of the directorate of the Italian National Unification Commission of Motor Vehicles (CUNA) of Turin. He also represents the Tyre Industry in the EU Commission and at the UNECE.
He represents Pirelli at AIRI – Italian Association of Industrial Research, in Rome, and at EIRMA – European Industrial Research Management Association, in Brussels.
He joined Pirelli HQ in Milan in 1988 and from 1993 to 1997 he was Technical Director of Pirelli KK Japan, in Tokyo.
He graduated in Nuclear Engineering at the Milan Polytechnic University.
