What happens when technology meets food: a special preview in CastelBrando

Food and technology: it  may sound like a contradiction – on one hand instinct and tradition, on the other hand development, progress. On the contrary, an increasing number of our daily behaviors depends on the matching of these two universes, a matching also known as ‘FoodTech’. And with the behaviors, an increasingly important share of the global economy.

‘What happens when technology meets food’ will be one of the main topics of the Technology Forum 2015 and it is the title of the TechnologyForum Preview, which will be held in CastelBrando (Treviso), on Friday, March 20th.

An extraordinary appointment which will host:

Eyal Shimoni, Vice President and CTO of Strauss Group, the most important Food&Beverage Group in Israel, which was recently chosen by the State of Israel, Ministry of Economy and the Chief Scientist to establish a business incubator for Start-ups in the field of food technologies.

Mauro Piloni, President and CEO of Whirlpool R&D and Vice President of Whirlpool Corporation R&D, as well as President of SIFOOD, Science & Innovation Food District.

Elena Sgaravatti, member of the Board of Assobiotec  and Managing Director of IRB – the green biotechnology company that was born 15 years ago as a spin off –and today is able to offer the widest range of innovative bioactive ingredients for dermo-cosmetic, nutritional, pharmaceutical and animal health applications.

With them, a special choice of 12 Italian start up – all in food techology and selected on the basis of two criteria: their impact power in the industry and the advancement of their product development.

From waste reduction, through food security and food as long-life therapy, up to the answers that technology can offer to climate and demographic change, and the languages of the food, packaging and marketing, with a goal: to cross the idea-hunt of the most innovative companies, with the development of the best Italian start-up in the “FoodTech”.

The panels will be moderate by Luca Barbieri, Editor in chief of CorriereInnovazione, the multiplatform publishing project of the Corriere della Sera, linking territories, creativity and innovation in Italy.
