Director-General, Gauteng Office of the Premier, South Africa. Before joining the Guateng Office of the Premier in 2015, Ms. Baleni worked at the then Gauteng MEC for Local Government and Housing as special legal advisor (1994-1996); at the City of Johannesburg (1996-2003), where she was appointed Executive Director of the Contract Management Unit; at Electricity Distribution Industry Holdings as CEO (since 2003); as CEO of the National Energy Regulator of South Africa (since 2011). Furthermore, in this capacity, she was the Chairperson of the Regional Electricity Regional Regulators Association (RERA) in the SADC and an Executive Committee Member of the African Forum for utility Regulators (AFUR). She also serves on the boards of the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services SETA (MERSETA), the CSIR as well as the Council of Wits University.
