President of the Emilia-Romagna Region since 2014. His career started in Campogalliano, where he acquired his first experience as a councillor when I was still very young. It then continued in Modena, where he was a councillor for 7 years, and in Bologna, where he joined the Regional Council as regional secretary of the Democratic Party in 2010. Elected President of the Region in 2014, his office was confirmed in the regional elections on 26 January. For over five years he has presided over the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces in Rome. In 2017, the first time for an Italian, he was appointed president of Cemr, the Council of European Municipalities and Regions, a body representing over 100 thousand European local and regional authorities. On 23 January 2020 he was confirmed President.
