Paolo Lombardo is the Director of International Development Cooperation at Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CdP), Italy’s national promotional bank, and is responsible for CdP’s activities in emerging markets. Prior to moving to CdP, he held various senior positions at the European Investment Bank (EIB) where, throughout a 21-year career, he was Head of EIB’s Regional Hub for East Africa, based in Nairobi, Deputy Director General of EIB’s Risk Management Directorate, and Head of EIB’s emerging markets portfolio management team. Paolo Lombardo started his career in investment banking (M&A). In the 90s he moved to Asia to focus on infrastructure project financing, and upon his return to Europe, in 2001, he became Global Head of Power and Utilities at ABB Structure Finance. He holds a degree in business administration and corporate finance from Bocconi University, is married and has three children.
