Mauro Battocchi is Minister Plenipotentiary since 2016. He was awarded the Commendation of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic in 2019. Tasked with promoting the expansion of Italian entrepreneurship, innovation, and science abroad as Director General for the Promotion of the Country System at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Deputy Director General for the Promotion of the Country System with vicarious functions and Central Director for Economic Internationalization from April to December 2023. Mauro Battocchi has been Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Chile from October 2018 to April 2023, Diplomatic Advisor at the Italian Ministry of Economic Development from May 2016 to July 2018; Consul General of Italy in San Francisco from September 2012 to July 2016; Head of International Institutional Affairs at Enel from October 2008 to August 2012; Head of the Office for the Promotion of Trade and Investment at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Rome from 2003 to September 2008; head of the economic section of the Italian Embassy in Tel Aviv from November 1999 to July 2002; First Secretary at the financial section of the Italian Embassy in Bonn from 1995 to 1999.
