Anuson Chinvanno

Anuson Chinvanno is a Sinologist by training and a diplomat by career. He heads the revitalized International Studies Center (ISC) at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1 August 2019. Until July 2019 he was appointed Deputy Secretary General of the Prime Minister. In August 2014 he was appointed Director of the newly established Chinese-Thai Institute at Rangsit University. Previously, he served in Hanoi from 2011-2013 and was appointed Thailand’s Ambassador to Vietnam in late 2010. Between 2006-2010, he was Director-General of 2 major departments in the Ministry, namely the Department of International Organizations (2009-2010) and the Department of East Asian Affairs (2006-2009). He attained his first senior post of Consul-General to Shanghai in 2004 and started working in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in late 1988. Apart from his academic training he also has extensive experience in multilateral diplomacy as he served in the Department of International Organizations twice (2009-2010 and 1996-2000) as Director-General of the Department and served at Thailand’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York as a junior diplomat between 1992-1995.
