Alfredo E. Pascual is the Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) since 2022. At the time of his appointment to DTI, he was the President of the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) and an advocate of good corporate governance. He served as an independent director on the board of several publicly listed companies, such as the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), Institute for Solidarity in Asia, FINEX Academy, University of the Philippines (UP) Foundation, UP CIFAL Philippines, Philippine Council for Foreign Relations, and US-Philippines Society. He led ICD as its President and CEO in 2018 and 2019. From 2011 to 2017, he was President and Co-Chair of the University of the Philippines (UP), where he was a trustee at the International Rice Research Institute and the Philippine Institute for Development Studies, among others. Before being elected as UP President, he was the Alumni Regent on the UP Board. Prior to becoming an academic leader, he worked at the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for 19 years (1989-2008) in several positions, including Director for Private Sector Operations, Director for Project Finance, Advisor for Public-Private Partnership, and Senior Investment Officer.
