Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry - Malaysia

His Excellency YB Datuk Lim Ban Hong was sworn in as the Senator into the Malaysian Upper House of Parliament on 9 March 2020. As the Deputy Minister in the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), his key priorities are to elevate Malaysia’s competitiveness as a major international trading nation, attract high quality investments, as well as further innovate industrial activities to produce high value-added goods and services. Before his tenure in MITI, he served as an assemblyman for Klebang in the Melaka State Legislative Assembly for a full term from 2013 to 2018, notably being the youngest to be sworn in as the State Exco Member in 2014. He was tasked with the Transport, Project Rehabilitation and International Trade portfolio, serving as Committee Chairman. YB Datuk Lim is currently the Vice President of the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), one of the oldest political parties in Malaysia. He was awarded the Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka (D.M.S.M.) which carries the title Datuk in 2014. He was a practising lawyer. He earned his Bachelor of Law degree (External) from the University of London in 2004 and Bachelor of Science (Computer) from the University of Technology, Malaysia in 2000.
