Dr. Dang Xuan Thanh has been the Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences (VASS) since October 2018. Before that, Dr. Dang Xuan Thanh worked in different VASS’ affiliated research institutes such as the Center for Analysis and Forecast, Institute for Northeast Asian Studies, Institute for Chinese Studies. From March 2014 to October 2018, Dr. Dang Xuan Thanh was assigned to be the Vice President of the People’s Committee of Lao Cai Province, a bordering province in the Northern Vietnam. Having studied in USSR for many years, in 1992, he received the Ph.D in Mathematics at the Belarusian State University, after that Dr. Dang Xuan Thanh worked at the Russian Academy of Sciences till 2001. Now, in the position of the Vice President of Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, Dr. Dang Xuan Thanh is in charge of international studies institutes and continues to lead a number of important research projects including “The world’s situation up to 2030 – for the goal of integration and development of Vietnam in the new era” (2021-2025) and “Social Science and Humanity Research for fast and sustainable socio-economic development in locality” (2020-2024).
