Tan Sri Dato’ Soh Thian Lai is President of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers since 2017. He also serves as Group Executive Deputy Chairman of the YKGI Holdings Berhad, Executive Chairman of the Starshine Holdings Sdn Bhd and Deputy Chairman of the Asteel Resources Sdn Bhd. Tan Sri Dato’ Soh has over 30 years of experience in the steel industry. Tan Sri Dato’ Soh has been instrumental in the development and growth of YKGI Holdings Bhd and its group of companies. Over the years, he has served as: Vice-President of National Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia, Founding member and Director of Malaysia Steel Institute (MSI), one of nine agencies of MITI, Board Member of Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), Chairman, Jawatankuasa Pemerkasaan TVET (Teknikal), Ministry of Education, President of Malaysian Iron and Steel Industry Federation (MISIF) and Chairman of FMM Selangor Branch. Tan Sri Dato’ Soh graduated from Tunku Abdul Rahman College with a Diploma in Technology (Materials Engineering) in 1985. Later he obtained a Diploma in Management from Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) in 1991 and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Bath, United Kingdom in 1994. He was upgraded as a Fellow Member of Malaysia Institute of Management.
