Assistant Director General - WHO

Assistant Director General of the WHO since November 13th 2017. He was General Director of Prevention of the Ministry of Health from October 2014 to November 2017. From August 2011 to October 2014, he was scientific officer at the Italian Embassy in the USA.

He has had various positions at the Istituto Superiore di Sanità, as Director of the WHO Collaborative Center for Health Education and Director of External Relations in the years 1989-1995 and 1996-2011.

In 2005, he was Medical Director at the United Nations Relief and Works Agency – UNRWA, Amman, Jordan. Between 2002 and 2003, he was an Italian representative at the Technical-Scientific Evaluation Board, Brussels and Geneva of the Global Fund for AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, the G8 and the United Nations.

Between 1995 and 1996 he was the Health Director of ASL n.6 Friuli Occidentale. From 1983 to 1989 he has held various positions at the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Graduated in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Padua, Dr. Guerra holds a Master of Science degree in Health and Public Health and a Master of Science degree at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
