Marco Bussetti

Minister of Education, University and Research, Italy -

Marco Bussetti has been the Italian Minister for Education, Universities and Research (MIUR) since June 1, 2018. His professional background is strongly rooted in education and vocational training. He was formerly Director of the Local Education Authority for Milan and the Greater Milan Area (2014-2018). Marco Bussetti served as an Inspector for the Regional Education Authority for Lombardy from 2008 to 2014 and was Acting Director for the Local Education Authority for the Territorial Area of Monza from 2011. At the same time, he was Acting Head of Unit (Ufficio V) for officially-recognized non-state schools (scuole paritarie) within the Regional Education Authority for Lombardy. He was also President of the Student Grievance Committee (Organo di garanzia) for lower secondary schools for the Lombardy Region. He has worked in the Ministry’s Directorate General for Student Affairs as a member of various working groups and, in 2010, was a member of the Ministerial Committee for the development of the National Guidelines for upper secondary schools (licei). Marco Bussetti has taught in a number of universities including Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano, Università degli Studi di Milano, and Università degli Studi di Pavia, and is the author of several publications in the field of education. He graduated in Applied Sports Science (Scienze e Tecniche delle attività motorie) from Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan.
