RAMAPHOSA’S TURNAROUND: Great opportunities for Italian companies in South Africa

Palazzo Parigi (Corso di Porta Nuova, 1 – Milan)
April 4, 2018
Starting: 3.00 p.m. (registration 2:45 pm) Ending: 5.00 p.m.

Ramaphosa’s presidency marks a significant break with the past, with ambitious goals for economic development and international openness. Profound and incisive reforms are expected, that will create significant spaces for international operators, in particular in the public-private sector of networks and infrastructures.

What opportunities will there be for international investors? How best can one position oneself for seizing the new opportunities offered by the country and the region? What recommendations can the Italian business community put across to the new President?

To paint the scenario and outline the opportunities of the new South Africa, The European House – Ambrosetti is organizing a working group, in the presence of His Excellency Prof. Shirish M. Soni, the South African Ambassador to Rome, to discuss trade between the two countries with heads of companies. The opening speakers will be:

  • Paolo Borzatta – Senior Partner, The European House – Ambrosetti
  • Shirish M. Soni – South Africa’s Ambassador to Rome
  • Fabrizio Zago – CEO, Building Energy
  • Giulia Pellegrini – Portfolio Manager Emerging Markets, BlackRock
  • Elio Manzione – former Italian Ambassador to Pretoria (2008 – 2011)

The Working Group has been organized as part of the activities of the Italy – South Africa Summit, the 5th edition of which will take place in Johannesburg on October 23-24, 2018.

The aim of the summit, reserved for CEOs from Italy/Europe and South Africa/SADC, is to create a community of leaders capable of expanding business and investment relationships between the two countries and regions, acting as a focal point for the Italian community in South Africa and in Sub-Saharan Africa.
