Ambassador of Italy to Malaysia -

Cristiano Maggipinto embraces the diplomatic career in 1989 and, having served with the General Directorate for Economic Affairs dealing with market economy countries and European internal affairs, he is sent to Tel Aviv as First Secretary of the Italian Embassy. In 1997 he moves to Bonn and then to Berlin, where he is in charge of the large Italian community residing in Germany. Back in Rome, he serves as Chief of Staff of the General Directorate for Italians Abroad and Migration Policies and in 2006 he is appointed Consul General in Houston. From Houston he is transferred to the Embassy in Washington as Head of the coordination department of all the Italian Consulates in the United States and of the relations with the Italian Community. He returns to Rome in December 2013 and serves at the General Directorate for Development Cooperation, dealing mainly with the Directorate’s participation at Expo Milan 2015.
