Zhou Xiaochuan has been Vice Chairman of Boao Forum for Asia since April 2018. In March 2013, he was elected Vice Chairman of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), one of the most important institutions of the People’s Republic, a position he held until 2018. He was Governor of the Peoples’ Bank of China from 2002 to 2018. He held a number of important Party and state offices including Chairman of the Monetary Policy Committee of the People’s Bank of China from 2003 to 2018, and Member of the Central Committee of the People’s Republic of China from 2002 to 2012. He had a long career in the Chinese financial sector, serving as Chairman of the China Securities Regulatory Commission, President of the China Construction Bank, and Vice President of Bank of China, among other positions. He was Assistant Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation and Member of the State Economic System Restructuring Committee. Zhou Xiaochuan graduated from the Beijing Chemical Engineering Institute and received his Ph.D. from the Tsinghua University.
