Li Baodong

Secretary-General, Boao Forum for Asia - Former Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of China - 博鳌亚洲论坛秘书长 - 外交部原副部长

Li Baodong, Han nationality, has been Secretary General of Boao Forum for Asia since April 2018. He also serves as Member of the Standing Committee of the 13th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, and Vice Chairman of the CPPCC Foreign Affairs Committee. From 2013 to May 2018 he was Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chinese Sherpa for G20 Affairs and BRICS Affairs and Vice Chairman of the Red Cross Society of China. Prior to that, from 2009 to 2013, he was Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the People’s Republic of China to the United Nations in New York. He was also Ambassador and Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations and Other International Institutions in Geneva from 2006 to 2009 and Ambassador to Zambia in 2005 and 2006. He was born in Beijing in April 1955. He holds a degree in English from the Beijing Foreign Studies University and a Master’s Degree in International Public Policy from Johns Hopkins University.

 

李保东,汉族,自2018年4月起担任博鳌亚洲论坛秘书长。他目前还担任十三届全国政协常委兼外事委员会副主任。 2013年至2018年5月,他担任外交部副部长、二十国集团峰会事务中方协调人、中国红十字会副会长。在此之前,他于2009年至2013年担任中华人民共和国常驻联合国代表、特命全权大使。在2006年至2009年他还担任中国常驻联合国日内瓦办事处和瑞士其他国际组织代表、特命全权大使,2005年和2006年担任中国驻赞比亚共和国特命全权大使。他于1955年4月出生于北京。他拥有北京外国语大学的英语学位和约翰霍普金斯大学的国际公共政策硕士学位。
